Lobi Stars Unbeaten Run In Current NPFL Excites Fans

October 23, (THEWILL) – A cross section of soccer fans have expressed excitement over the superlative performances of Lobi Stars football club of Makurdi in the current NPFL ties against their opponents.

Soccer enthusiasts, in a chat, noted that despite Lobi Stars playing their home matches away in Lafia stadium, Nasarawa state, they continue to tame their opponents with wide margins.

Reacting to the piping of Abia Warriors 2-0 in Lafia over the weekend, the chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Benue state chapter, John Shiaondo, believes that with the appointment of an indigenous Coach like Eugine Agagbe, who played for the club in the past, he knows the psyche on all the players and their capabilities.

According to him, the Dominic Iorfa-led executive vice chairmanship promise to lead the club to Continental engagement after the 2023 league season is achievable, given the incentives for players at the moment.

Reacting, Abdul Sule of Lafia township said, Lobi Stars have been thrilling Nasarawa football lovers since choosing the Lafia township stadium for their home outing, noting that fans are impressed with their artistic displays.

Sule predicted that if Lobi Stars sustain its current outing, then, a Continental ticket is assured next season.

Two female sports lovers, Maureen Igba and Mercy Joseph, said despite Lobi Stars playing away in Lafia, they have never missed watching their matches because players always make them feel good, thereby not regretting their transportation fares to watch at any venue.

THEWILL recalls that the Lobi Stars NPLF matchday 4 tie against Abia Warriors was postponed last Saturday, so as to sympathise with the immediate families who lost their loved ones in a deadly robbery attack on four banks in Otukpo last Friday.

Otukpo, venue of the deadly incident is the Local Government of the Deputy Governor of Benue state, Barr. Sam Ode, who is also the Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club.

Following this ugly incident, the Management of Lobi Stars approached the league authorities and requested for a shift in date, so as to mourn with the bereaved.

Consequently, the league authorities have approved their request and shifted Lobi Stars’ encounter against visiting Abia Warriors to Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the same venue in Lafia, Nasarawa State in which Lobi Stars thrashed the visiting Abia Warriors 2-0.

Lobi Stars Head Coach, Eugine Agagbe, in a post match conference, thanked God for the victory, saying players were told to take their chances as they go in to play and that is what they did on the pitch.

According to him, the club’s victory is all about hard and team work, assuring of focus and sustain results to justify the confidence for stakeholders.
