Lobi Stars FC Ends Doma United’s Unbeaten Run

December 18, (THEWILL) – Combined forces of Stanley Oganbor and second-half substitute Suleiman Mojereola, have ended Doma United Football Club’s 11 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches unbeaten as well as goalkeeper Kingdom Osayi’s 9 matches clean sheet record as the duo goals helped Lobi Stars to a 2-1 win against the Savannah Tigers.

The ‘Yes Father’ Boys maintained a perfect home record at the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa State, where they are currently planning their home matches.

Coach Eugene Agagbe’s men with just a few nocks on the visitor’s door saw the deadlock broken in the 4th minute of the encounter through Stanley Oganbor. The former Flight FC forward raced into the box and connected a well-tailored cross from Adebayo Waheed to end Kingdom Osayi’s 9-match clean sheet, it was his second league goal of the season.

The ‘Yes Father’ Boys showed no mercy on the visiting Savanah Tigers when they kept asking for more openings to harm them, as within quick succession, Lobi had good scoring chances to put the game beyond the Gombe side but unfortunately, their efforts failed to connect the desired target.

There was a strong call by Lobi Stars players when the Doma United goal, brought down Liman Ahmadu in the box but the centre referee ignored it and gave a goal kick as halftime ended 1-0.

Returning from the first-half break, Coach Agagbe, introduced Suleiman Mojereola and Adewale Yusuf for tactical reasons.

As the minutes winded down, substitute Mojereola replicated the faith trusted in him when he scored his first-ever league goal for Lobi Stars through a sublime curve, beating Kingdom Osayi to double his side’s lead in the 79th minute.

The Makurdi side protected the two gaols advantage until Doma United substitute Samuel Enefiok got a consolation goal for his side when he reduced the deficit in the additional time.

In his post-match reaction, Coach Agagbe thanked his players for the zeal they put which gave his side an edge over Doma United

“I thank my boys for the zeal they have put in. As you can see, Doma United had gone 11 matches unbeaten so when they were coming here, they were hopeful but I know this place is slaughter ground; no team can come here and survive,” he maintained

With this victory, the Yes Father Boys have 26 points from 14 matches, they are joint-leaders of the league summit with Remo Stars. Remo Stars, who lost to Kano Pillars, had the goals difference advantage.

Up next for Lobi Stars is a long trip to Ikenne, on Matchday 15, against the NPFL table joint toppers, Remo Stars, on Thursday, 21st December 2023.
