March 16, (THEWILL) – Liverpool’s Stefan Bajcetic will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after sustaining an adductor injury as he himself confirmed in a statement.

Despite being a newcomer to the team, the 18-year-old Spaniard has earned recognition as one of Liverpool’s top performers in a difficult season, with 19 appearances across all competitions.

Bajcetic missed Wednesday’s defeat to Real Madrid due to his injury, which he revealed would force him to miss the remainder of the campaign. In a statement, the teenager expressed sadness but also gratitude for the support he received from the fans.

“Unfortunately I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season. It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally. I would also like to say thank you to you reds for all the support through the season and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever,” he wrote.

With Thiago a long-term absentee and Jordan Henderson also missing the Real Madrid game, manager Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options were limited. Fabinho and James Milner were paired together, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming off the bench, and both Naby Keita and Curtis Jones as unused substitutes.
