Liverpool Set Stage For Bayern Clash With 4-0 Win Against Leicester

July 30, (THEWILL) – Liverpool displayed their free-scoring form during their pre-season encounter with Leicester in Singapore, emerging victorious with a commanding 4-0 win.

Jurgen Klopp’s side continued their goal-scoring spree, notching four goals in their third consecutive friendly, following their 4-2 triumph over Karlsruher and a 4-4 draw with Greuther Furth in Germany. The match served as a convincing warm-up for Liverpool, who outplayed Leicester in what was the latter’s final preparation fixture before embarking on their first Championship campaign in 10 years.

Taking the field with a formidable lineup, Liverpool wasted no time in asserting dominance, swiftly building a three-goal lead by halftime. Darwin Nunez opened the scoring, his fourth goal in three games from a rebound off of Diogo Jota’s effort, saved initially by Mads Hermansen. Adding to the tally, 18-year-old Bobby Clark, who featured in midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones, netted the second goal just five minutes later. The lead was further extended to 3-0 within three minutes when Jota headed past Hermansen after a brilliant one-two with Mohamed Salah, marking his third goal in as many games.

At halftime, Klopp made 10 changes, introducing Dominik Szoboszlai, who had recovered from an injury that kept him out against Furth. The new signing came close to scoring with a spectacular long-range lob. Nonetheless, it was 17-year-old Scottish winger Ben Doak who secured Liverpool’s fourth goal, converting Joel Matip’s flick-on from Szoboszlai’s corner.

With their pre-season campaign proving successful, Liverpool are now set to face a more challenging test against Bayern Munich at the Singapore National Stadium on Wednesday. The encounter will help Klopp gauge the team’s readiness ahead of the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Leicester will take lessons from this to improve their performance as they prepare to commence their Championship journey with a home fixture against Coventry on Sunday.
