August 31, (THEWILL) – Liverpool are close to finalising a deal to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.

The Netherlands international midfielder has been a target for the Reds all summer, with initial interest as far back as April. With Jordan Henderson and Fabinho among five first-team midfielders to leave Liverpool since last season, manager Jurgen Klopp has stepped up efforts to bring in Gravenberch as his fourth new midfield signing this window.

The Reds have already acquired Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo to bolster their options. Liverpool have now agreed a £34 million fee with Bayern to sign Gravenberch, more than the German champions were initially seeking. But with deadline day looming, the Reds have had to push hard to get the deal done.

The 21-year-old has already accepted a five-year contract at Anfield and travelled to England to complete his medical examinations ahead of finalising the transfer. He moved to Bayern from Ajax just last summer but looks set for another switch after only one season in Munich.

His arrival will give Liverpool added quality and depth in midfield as they seek to recover from a difficult start to the new campaign.
