October 11, (THEWILL) – Post-match tests have revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out for two weeks with an ankle injury, while Joel Matip, another defender, will be out for up to three weeks with a calf injury.
It is another injury wave for Jurgen Klopp’s squad after Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara both missed time earlier in the season due to injury and made Liverpool endure a bit of a horrible start to the season.
As THEWILL reported, Luis Diaz is set to miss the next 10 games. The injury list stretches further as Arthur Melo will not be available until January or February, Andrew Robertson has missed games as well and has not yet made a comeback while Ibrahima Konate has just returned from a knee injury.
With about a quarter of the game remaining, Konate came on to replace Matip and played his first minutes of the year. He was also an unused substitute in Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League tie last week, his return after eleven games on the sidelines.
With only five days until their English Premier League matchup against Manchester City next weekend, losing Alexander-Arnold and Matip now represents a major blow for Liverpool.
