January 21, (THEWILL) – Liverpool and Chelsea’s struggles in the English Premier League this season continued in a 0-0 draw at Anfield on Saturday.

Despite both teams having early chances to score, neither side was able to take control of the match and break the deadlock for the entirety of the 90 minutes played. As a result, Jurgen Klopp and Graham Potter’s respective sides now remain mired in mid-table.

Chelsea had the ball in the net after just three minutes, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Down the other end, Mohamed Salah set up Cody Gakpo, but his strike sailed harmlessly over the bar. Chelsea also had their share of opportunities, with Mason Mount and Mykhailo Mudryk coming close to scoring.

The second half saw Liverpool come out strong, with Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita both having chances to score. Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk also had a chance to open his Chelsea account, but instead of shooting, he tried to bring the ball down and the opportunity was lost. In the end, neither team was able to find a winner and the match ended in a goalless draw.

As a result, both teams move onto 29 points, with Chelsea remaining in 10th place and Liverpool climbing above Brentford on goal difference. The Reds will now turn their attention to their FA Cup match against Brighton and Hove Albion next weekend, while Chelsea will not play again until early February when they host Fulham.
