August 10, (THEWILL) – Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Fabio Carvalho to Brentford for approximately £20 million.
Carvalho’s performance improved significantly during his loan spell with Hull City in the English Championship last season, where he scored nine goals in 20 matches. He continued to impress in pre-season, scoring against Arsenal and Manchester United.
Earlier this summer, Southampton’s £15 million bid for Carvalho was rejected. However, Portuguese newspaper A Bola first reported that Liverpool and Brentford had reached an agreement for the player’s transfer. This news was later confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano provided additional details, stating that Brentford will pay an initial £20 million for Carvalho. The deal includes potential add-ons that could increase the total transfer fee to £27.5 million. Liverpool have also included a 17.5% sell-on clause in the agreement.
Carvalho’s former club, Fulham, will receive 17.5% of any profit above £5 million from this transfer. This clause was likely included in the player’s initial transfer from Fulham to Liverpool in 2022.
