October 12, (THEWILL) – A 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League Group C fixture, saw Robert Lewandowski equalised twice late on, but Barcelona’s chances of moving on to the next round of the Champions League appear bleak.
Barca took the lead thanks to a goal from Ousmane Dembele in the first half, but elimination was once again staring them in the face after goals from Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez came in for the visitors in the frantic second half.
In the 89th minute, Robin Gosens believed he had advanced Inter to the round of 16 when he scored to make it 3-2, but Lewandowski scored again for Barcelona to steal a point.
Lewandowski’s late performance keeps Barcelona’s chances of surviving the group stages alive, but the Blaugrana must now hope that Inter loses both of their remaining Group C games, which is a massive hope against the defending champions of Italy’s top-flight football.
In their next European tie, Barcelona will host Bayern in a make-or-break game for the Catalan club. Before that, they have to get ready for a top-of-the-table El Clasico in Madrid. Inter have to also get ready to host Salernitana at San Siro on Sunday, but they have a good chance to advance from Group C when they play Viktoria Plzen in Europe.
