November 25, (THEWILL) – Bayer Leverkusen continued their stunning run of form by comfortably dispatching Werder Bremen 3-0 on Saturday.

The result marks a club record-equalling eighth consecutive victory for Die Werkself, who now sit atop the Bundesliga table after 12 matches.

An own goal opened the scoring for the visitors in the first half, as Jonas Hofmann’s cross was inadvertently turned in by Werder’s Oliveir Deman. Jeremie Frimpong then unleashed an unstoppable strike from the edge of the area in the 42nd minute to double Leverkusen’s advantage before the break.

The second-half saw Bayer remain firmly in control with Victor Boniface troubling the opposition back-line before talisman Alejandro Grimaldo sealed the three points in the 76th minute. The Spaniard slotted home confidently after Werder lost possession deep in their own half, marking Grimaldo’s fifth straight away match with a goal – another club record.

With their relentless attacking play, Leverkusen have now incredibly scored at least two goals in each of their first 12 matches this Bundesliga campaign. The win moves them onto 34 points at the top of the table, two ahead of defending champions Bayern Munich in second.
