BEVERLY HILLS, August 24, (THEWILL) – A video journalist attached to the Presidential Villa, George Edemovuge has been redeployed following the viral video which captured the conversation between the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Adams Oshiomhole.
In the conversation, the two men could be heard discussing the arrest of certain persons in connection with the upcoming Edo State Governorship election.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had latched on it, accusing the ruling party of planning to use state power to undermine the electoral process and intimidate the opposition.
The allegation has been denied by the Presidency in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
But barely a week after the video surfaced, sparking public condemnation, the cameraman who is affiliated to one of the privately-owned TV stations, Channels Television, was removed from the Presidential Villa Press Corp.
It is unclear whether Edemovuge’s removal from the Villa was instigated by the State House or his employers. He has now been redeployed to the Senate.
