November 02, (THEWILL) – Enugu Rangers were left stunned on Thursday afternoon, after a late goal from Stephen Oganbor earned victory for Lobi Stars.
Lobi had taken an early lead through Atule Danbani, but were pegged back by Chidiebere Nwobodo’s equaliser on the hour mark. The match looked to be heading for a draw until Oganbor struck in the 83rd minute to snatch all three points for Lobi Stars.
It was a thrilling contest between the two Nigerian giants, who have developed a keen rivalry over the years. Rangers manager, Gbenga Ogunbote, will be disappointed his side could not hold onto their lead.
Lobi Stars, meanwhile, showed tremendous spirit to get back ahead and claim the bragging rights. The Makurdi outfit will not only be delighted by their three points but will hope to keep this character and determination going forward.
The result sees Lobi Stars leapfrog Rangers into second place in the Nigerian Premier Football League table after six matches.
