February 29, (THEWILL) – Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals for the 48th time, extending their record, with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. A goal in the dying minutes by Casemiro clinched a hard-fought win for Erik Ten Hag’s injury-hit side.

The match was an end-to-end affair, with chances at both ends. Scott McTominay and Antony went close for United in the early stages, while Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi forced a good save from André Onana. McTominay saw another header well saved as the first half ended goalless despite the frenetic pace.

After the break, Forest started brighter, with Awoniyi and Divock Origi both denied by the excellent Onana. As the game drifted towards extra time, Casemiro popped up at the near post to stoop and head home a Bruno Fernandes free-kick in front of the travelling United fans.

The last-gasp winner sets up a titanic quarter-final clash with rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford, adding extra spice to United’s upcoming derby date with Manchester City. For Forest, the FA Cup exit perhaps allows them to fully focus on English Premier League survival ahead of Liverpool’s league visit on Saturday.
