November 25, (THEWILL) – Luton Town staged a thrilling late comeback to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Kenilworth Road, on Saturday afternoon. The win lifts Luton to 17th in the English Premier League table and provides a major boost to their hopes of avoiding relegation this season.
The match exploded into life with just 18 minutes remaining when defender Teden Mengi fired Rob Edwards’ side in front from a corner. However, their lead lasted less than 60 seconds as Michael Olise brilliantly equalised for the visitors.
Yet, Luton showed resilience to bounce back quickly. With seven minutes left, substitute Jacob Brown nipped between defender and goalkeeper to score a dramatic winner, sealing the Hatters’ first top-flight home victory in over 30 years.
Palace had dominated the early possession but struggled to create clear goalscoring opportunities. Their best chance fell to Eberechi Eze midway through the first half, but his low drive was well saved by Thomas Kaminski.
Buoyed by Everton’s 10-point deduction earlier this week, Luton were clearly the better side after halftime. They finally made their pressure count through Mengi’s opener, only to be quickly pegged back by Olise’s solo stunner. Still, Brown’s late intervention ensured a famous home win for the hosts.
