Meanwhile, in the Plateau North senatorial rerun election, Prince Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) defeated Yakub Muhammad Safiu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Professor Nestor Chagok, the Returning Officer for the election, declared Dachungyang as the winner after he secured 122,442 votes to beat Safiu, who scored 53,980 votes.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Christopher Musa Giwa, finished third with 39,132 votes, while Gyang Zi of the LP trailed with 33,243 votes.
The elections follow a Court of Appeal ruling late last year, which nullified the victory of the PDP candidates Musa Agah (House of Representatives) and Senator Simon Mwadkon (Senate) and mandated rerun elections within 90 days. The PDP was also barred from the rerun election.
