October 22, (THEWILL) – A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano State, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has commended the launching of the first batch of scholarship grants to 21 students by the member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Kano State, and Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Bichi.

Kwankwaso, in a statement, described the scheme scheduled to be launched on Wednesday, at Bichi town, as a welcome development.

He said the gesture signifies the lawmaker’s concern for the educational development of Bichi federal constituency and Kano State.

Kwankwaso, a former Commissioner in the Ganduje administration in Kano State, said beneficiaries of the scheme would pursue 18-month programmes in
engineering, computer science and technology at the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM).

He also commended Bichi’s women and youths empowerment programmes which involve skills acquisition training and provision of start-up capital towards self reliance.

“Bichi is committed to the empowerment of our youths through the provision of quality education and skills acquisition programmes.

“Looking at his choice of courses for the students, you will be convinced that the beneficiaries will be self employed at the end of their 18-month programme”, the APC chieftain said.

He enjoined other federal legislators from the state to emulate Bichi and contribute their quota towards the development of the state.
