June 17, (THEWILL)- Napoli have firmly stated that Georgian winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is not for sale this summer, despite his agent pushing for a transfer away from the Serie A club.
The 23-year-old was one of the breakout stars as Napoli won the Scudetto in 2023, but his camp is now reportedly targeting a move to Paris Saint-Germain after the Italian side’s dismal 2023/2204 campaign.
In a statement on Monday, Napoli made their stance clear: “The player is under contract with the club for another three years. Kvaratskhelia is not for sale.” This came after the player’s agent Mamuka Jugeli told Georgian TV “the priority is finalising a transfer with a club that plays in the Champions League.”
Kvaratskhelia’s father, Badri, also weighed in, saying: “I don’t want him at this club anymore” following Napoli’s 10th place Serie A finish and three different managerial changes last season. However, the club remained adamant, stating: “It’s not agents or fathers who decide the future of players under contract with Napoli but Napoli!!!”
The saga comes just a day before Kvaratskhelia is set to feature for Georgia in their historic first ever match at a major tournament, taking on Turkey in Group F at Euro 2024. Napoli have hired Antonio Conte in the hope of reviving their fortunes, with the former Chelsea boss reportedly keen to keep Kvaratskhelia amid the expected departure of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
