September 04, (THEWILL) – In a tantalising Serie A match on Saturday, at the Stadio Olimpico, Napoli rallied to overcome a 1-0 deficit and beat Lazio 2-1.
After just four minutes of play, Mattia Zaccagni struck the bottom corner of Alex Meret’s goal, giving former Partenopei manager, Maurizio Sarri, a quick lead. The visitors needed some time to bounce back after an early shock, but summer acquisition, Kim Min-Jae gave them a leveler in the 37th minute.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia blazed over from six yards out, and Victor Osimhen hit the post saw Napoli come closer to a winner even as they took control of the game in all departments in the second half.
Kvaratskhelia quickly made up for it, though, as his powerful shot from the edge of the box in the 61st minute gave Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel no chance.
The result turned out to be what Napoli needed to temporarily take the top spot in Serie A and the Bianconcelesti to suffer their first league loss of the year. Napoli next welcome Liverpool to Naples in the UCL while Lazio are also at home in the Europa League against Feyenoord.
