March 18, (THEWILL) – In a ruthless display, Erling Haaland led Manchester City to a dominant 6-0 victory against Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-finals, scoring his sixth hat-trick of the season.
Former City captain, Vincent Kompany, endured a nightmare return to the Etihad Stadium as his side were soundly beaten by Pep Guardiola’s men, who head into the international break on a high.
Despite an encouraging start from the Championship leaders, Man City took the lead with their first chance. Haaland sprinted away and poked the ball past the Burnley goalkeeper to open the scoring. The hosts then doubled their lead quickly after as Phil Foden provided the assist for Haaland’s second goal.

After the break, Burnley’s keeper made a series of impressive saves to keep the scoreline down, but Haaland completed his hat-trick before Julian Alvarez and Cole Palmer added two more goals to pile further misery on the visitors. The win sees Man City reach their fifth successive FA Cup semi-final.
Burnley will face Sunderland in the Championship on Friday, March 31, while Manchester City will play Liverpool in the EPL on April 1.
