BEVERLY HILLS, November 22, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Kogi State governorship election inconclusive and will hold a supplementary election in areas where polls did not take place for various reasons.
Returning Officer, Emmanuel Kucha, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, had declared that Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 240,867 while Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 199,514 votes, adding that the margin of votes between Audu and Wada is 41,353.
In declaring the poll inconclusive, Kucha said the total number of registered voters in 91 polling units, in 18 local government areas, where election was cancelled is 49,953, significantly higher than the 41,353 votes that separates Audu and Wada.
He therefore said INEC guideline stipulates for a supplementary election in those areas where elections were cancelled.
A date for the election would be announced later by INEC.
