Klopp’s Penultimate Anfield Clash Sees Liverpool Beat Tottenham 4-2

May 5, (THEWILL)- Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate match at Anfield. Despite Spurs’ attempted comeback, the Reds have now suffered just two defeats from 32 home English Premier League head-to-head encounters against their London rivals.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring after 16 minutes, heading in Cody Gakpo’s cross. Andrew Robertson then doubled the lead, poking home the rebound from Salah’s shot. Gakpo out-jumped Cristian Romero to head in Liverpool’s third goal shortly after the restart before Harvey Elliott’s stunning curler made it 4-0.

Richarlison pulled one back for Spurs, neatly turning in Brennan Johnson’s cross. He then unselfishly laid the ball off for Heung-min Son to score, causing slight doubts about a Liverpool collapse. However, the hosts held on to secure their first win in three matches.

Spurs suffered their fourth consecutive EPL defeat for the first time since November 2004, conceding 13 goals during that run. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s victory leaves them five points off League leaders Arsenal with two matches left of this campaign.
