September 15, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has dismissed concerns over renewed interest from Saudi Arabian clubs in star forward, Mohamed Salah.
At a press conference on Friday, Klopp said he was not worried about potential bids for the Egyptian in the January transfer window. Salah was the subject of a £150 million offer from Saudi side Al-Ittihad before the summer deadline, which Liverpool rejected. However, the Saudi Pro League’s Director of Football, Michael Emenalo, has suggested the door is still open for Salah to move there.
Rumours suggest Al-Ittihad could bid around £200 million in January. While Klopp admitted keeping Salah is a priority, he insisted the Egyptian was not thinking about January bids yet. “You are kidding me. A week after we close the transfer window, you ask about the January window?” he replied reporters. “Obviously, you can’t wait until December to ask these questions. We will see what happens. Until then, I’m not worried.”
The German also discussed midfielder Jordan Henderson’s recent move to Saudi Arabia. He explained he could not guarantee Henderson regular playing time this season, leading to his exit. “There’s not a bit of bad blood or whatever,” Klopp clarified.
Salah has appeared unaffected by transfer speculation so far, scoring twice and assisting twice this campaign so far. Klopp will hope the 30-year-old maintains his focus, with Liverpool facing a busy fixture schedule over the coming months.
