April 19, (THEWILL)- Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has brushed aside concerns about Mohamed Salah’s form following a lack luster performance in their Europa League defeat to Atlanta.
The Reds crashed out of the competition on Thursday night, needing a significant comeback after losing the first leg 3-0. Despite scoring a penalty early on, Salah struggled to create clear opportunities and was eventually substituted by Klopp.
However, Klopp remains unconcerned by the Egyptians recent dip in form. ‘Strikers go through these spells’ , he said after the match. “We have to accept it and Mo has to accept it. He’s a very experienced player, and this isn’t the first time he’s missed chances.”
Salah still boasts an impressive 37 goals and assists in 38 games for Liverpool this season. However, a hamstring injury disrupted his momentum in the first half of the campaign, and his return to form has been slow since recovering.
With just two goals contributions in their last five English Premier League matches, Liverpool’s quadruple dreams have been dented. They have now been knocked out of both the FA Cup and Europa League, leaving them with a fight for the EPL title, which will be Klopp’s swan song with the confirmation that he will be leaving Merseyside at the end of this season.
