Kimmich’s Late Goal Saves Bayern From Defeat Against Köln

January 25, (THEWILL) – The match between Bayern Munich and Köln ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams putting up a strong fight throughout the match.

Köln took the lead early on when Ellyes Skhiri scored from a corner kick in the first four minutes, catching Bayern off guard. However, Bayern quickly regrouped and pushed hard for the win, registering 25 shots on goal throughout the match.

Despite Bayern’s dominance, Köln’s defence held strong and they were able to keep the league leaders at bay. Bayern boss, Julian Nagelsmann, was critical of his team’s blunt attack in their weekend stalemate with RB Leipzig, but he could not have anticipated falling behind so early in the match against Köln.

The manager called on his bench to improve their chances and Köln held on until the 90th minute when Joshua Kimmich scored a stunning goal from 30 meters out, levelling the score and ultimately securing a draw for Bayern.

At the final whistle, an incredible game of Bundesliga football ended 1-1 apiece with what was probably a fair result. On Saturday, Bayern will host Frankfurt, while Köln are away to Schalke 04 the following day.
