April 18, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Arsenal at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. The win, courtesy of a Joshua Kimmich header, ensured a 3-2 aggregate triumph for the German giants and ended Arsenal’s hopes of reaching the last four for the first time since 2009.

Despite a promising start from the Gunners, Bayern gradually asserted their dominance, creating several opportunities in the first half. Harry Kane came close to breaking the deadlock early on, while Jamal Musiala forced a save from David Raya with a powerful long-range effort.

Arsenal responded with chances of their own, with Gabriel Martinelli missing the clearest chance and Manuel Neuer called upon to deny Martin Odegaard. The second half saw Bayern increase the pressure, with Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro both hitting the woodwork before Kimmich’s decisive intervention.

The German midfielder met Guerreiro’s cross with a powerful header that flew past Raya, sending the home crowd into raptures. Bayern continued to push for a second goal, but Arsenal defended resolutely to keep the scoreline respectable.

While Bayern Munich now look forward to the semi-finals and a potential trip to Wembley for the final in June, Arsenal must turn their attention back to the Premier League. Despite the disappointment of their European exit, Mikel Arteta’s side remain in contention for their first league title in two decades, offering a glimmer of hope for the Gunners faithful.
