Kante’s Injury Worsens, Leaves Him Out Of France World Cup Squad

October 14, (THEWILL) – N’Golo Kante is set to be sidelined for up to three months due to a hamstring injury, which will prevent him from competing in the World Cup for France.

The 31-year-old has made only two appearances for Chelsea this season and has not played since the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in this season’s second English Premier League match.

Graham Potter said in his news conference that Kante had experienced a setback in his recuperation and was scheduled to see a specialist after reports in France on Thursday morning claimed that he had worsened the hamstring problem he sustained.

Kante, a two-time Premier League champion with Leicester and Chelsea, has a contract that expires in the summer of next year and is reportedly interested in extending it even though the current injury outlook is grim and his involvement with the team has been hampered by a variety of muscular problems.

Although Potter told the media that the most recent setback was “worrying” and “not good news,” he did not provide any additional information regarding when Kante might return for Chelsea.
