Kano Correspondents Chapel Mourns LEADERSHIP Bureau Chief

August 19, (THEWILL) – The Kano Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) has expressed its deepest grief over the death of its member, Abdullahi Yakubu, the Bureau Chief of LEADERSHIP Newspaper in the State.

Late Yakubu died on Friday at the age of 55 after a protracted illness, and is survived by a wife and many children.

The Chairman of the Chapel, Alhaji Aminu Garko, in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano, described late Yakubu as a seasoned Journalist and a gentleman who died at a time when his services to humanity were most needed.

The statement reads in part: “With total submission to the will of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala, Kano Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists announces the demise of Abdullahi Yakubu of the Leadership newspapers.”

“A seasoned journalist,late Yakubu started his journalism career with Triumph Newspapers in Kano.An easy-going personality, late Yakubu worked in Sokoto as the state Correspondent of the Triumph Newspapers,” it said.

The release also said that late Yakubu was Chairman, Jigawa State chapter of the Correspondents’ Chapel when he worked in Dutse as the State Correspondent of the THISDAY Newspapers before he joined LEADERSHIP newspapers and was deployed to Kano.

“His positive contribution to journalism would remain indelible in the hearts of those who crossed his path.

“Late Abdullahi Yakubu, a devout Muslim, was survived by a wife and many children and had since been buried according to Islamic rites.

” We beseech Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Janatul Furdausi, Amin,” the Chapel added.
