May 20, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur forward, Harry Kane, is expected to miss his club’s final English Premier League encounter due to sickness even though rumours of a club-wide outbreak have been refuted.
Spurs are billed to meet relegated Norwich with a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League on the line at the expense of north London rivals, Arsenal.
Kane has been feeling unwell and will be evaluated before Sunday’s game. Although he pulled out of the pre-match media appearance on Friday, owing to the illness, Kane trained with the rest of his team on Thursday.
Antonio Conte’s team are heavy favourites to win, but fans were triggered as rumours of an illness breakout at the north London side surfaced. It brought back bad memories of Spurs’ top-four aspirations being derailed in May 2006, when 10 players were ruled out of the club’s final match against West Ham.
The players had eaten bad lasagne and, in their absence Spurs lost 2-1, allowing Arsenal to claim the final top-four berth.
