October 15, (THEWILL) – As a result of a 2-0 victory over Everton, Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg pulled Tottenham Hotspur to within one point of the English Premier League leaders and north London rivals Arsenal.

Spurs took the lead in the 59th minute of Saturday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Kane converted a penalty he won following Jordan Pickford’s error in the box.

Prior to then, Everton had squandered their finest opportunities to find the opener, with Amadou Onana and Demarai Gray being particularly careless in the first half when they should have been more clinical in their finishing.

Those wasted chances became even more regrettable late in the game, as Hojbjerg’s deflected strike ended the game and all hope for Frank Lampard’s side to pick up any points from the tie.

Spurs remain in third place in the standings after the victory, although they are now tied with Man City and one point behind Arsenal. Due to their goal difference, Everton drops to 14th place and might fall to 16th by the end of the weekend matches. In the next fixtures, Everton is away to Newcastle and Spurs will go to Manchester United.
