August 16, (THEWILL) – England striker, Harry Kane, has opened up about his motivation for joining Bayern Munich, admitting that he joined the German club to challenge himself and feel the “pressure” of having to win titles every season.

“I came here to improve, to feel a new pressure of having to win titles every year, having to go far in the Champions League and pushing myself to that limit,” Kane revealed. As THEWILL previously reported, Kane signed a reported €100 million deal with Bayern on Saturday, after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, where he had played since the age of 11 but failed to win any trophies in 10 English Premier League seasons.

The 30-year-old is intent on testing himself at the serial UEFA Champions League winner and contending for silverware consistently. Making his debut just hours after arriving in Munich, Kane came on as a second-half substitute in Bayern’s 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup. That loss aside, he said he is eager for the new Bundesliga season after a productive pre-season.

“Any first game of a league season is one of the most exciting of the year because you’re so ready to go and eager to show what you can do,” he remarked. Bayern kick off their league title defence on Friday, with an away match against Werder Bremen at the Wohinvest Weserstadion, aiming for a 12th consecutive title.

With Kane leading the attack, the Bavarian giants expect to continue their dominance domestically while pursuing European glory.
