March 01, (THEWILL) – In a thrilling Derby della Mole, Juventus overcame Torino 4-2 but twice needed to come from behind for the win.
With a 15-point penalty, the Bianconeri were only one point above their city rivals going into the match. However, they managed to secure the win with the help of Paul Pogba’s season debut and Gleison Bremer’s goal against his former club.
Manuel Locatelli was suspended, with Arkadiusz Milik and Fabio Miretti injured, so 21-year-old Enzo Barrenechea made his Serie A debut in midfield. On the other side, Torino missed several players due to injuries.
Torino took an early lead through Yann Karamoh, but Juve equalised when Juan Cuadrado, smashed the ball into the roof of the net. Torino restored their lead through Antonio Sanabria, before Danilo’s bullet header made it 2-2 at halftime.
In the second half, Gleison Bremer scored the go-ahead goal against his former team, and Adrien Rabiot sealed the win with a goal at the back post via a Bremer assist. Paul Pogba also made an appearance in the match after being out for seven months due to a knee injury.
The victory moved Juventus to seventh place in the Serie A table leaving Torino in ninth. The Old Lady will be seeking their fifth consecutive victory in Serie A as they travel to Roma on Sunday, while Torino will be in the derby on Monday, hosting Bologna.
