Justify N6bn Ramadan Feeding Programme – Kano APC Challenges Gov. Yusuf

March 23, (THEWILL)- The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has challenged the State Governor, Abba Yusuf, to account for the N6 billion disbursed for the annual Ramadan feeding programme in the state.

The State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, threw the challenge to the Governor when he flagged off the distribution of palliatives to APC leaders and supporters at Dawakin Kudu on Saturday.

Abbas, who described the programme as a sham, asked the State Government to show evidence that what it is providing is commensurate with what it spent on the programme.

“We know that the Federal Government, BUA and Dangote Groups have provided palliatives, so let them show evidence that they have spent the said amount on the feeding programme.

“The grains we are distributing to our supporters were purchased through contribution from ourselves as we don’t have a government,” he said.

According to him, those who contributed include the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, two Ministers from the state, and the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.

Others are the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr. Nasiru Gawuna; his deputy, Murtala Sule-Garo; Chief of Staff to APC National Chairman, Malam Muhammad Garba, and Engr Abubakar Kabir Bichi.

The APC Chairman said each of the 484 wards is allotted 10 bags of 50kg rice, 5 bags of 100k millet, and 100 cartoons of spaghetti.

In his remarks, the Chief of Staff to the APC National Chairman, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the current economic hardships being experienced in the country, especially during the ongoing Ramadan fast.

“We felt it is necessary to support our party supporters and leaders across the 484 wards, especially during this Ramadan period since we’re in a privileged position,” he said.

Garba, who represented his boss at the occasion, said they purchased 5,840 50kg bags of rice, 1600 bags of millet, and 2000 cartoons of Spaghetti to give out to APC supporters and other people of the state.

Garba explained that the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, coordinated the idea of the palliatives, adding that Ganduje alongside the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, and others heavily contributed to the purchase of the food items.
