… Uncovers planned Sallah, Xmas attacks
SAN FRANCISCO, October 09, (THEWILL) – The military Joint Task Force (JTF) has busted another bomb factory in Kano just as it uncovered plans by Boko Haram to unleash series of terrorist attacks on the Northern city during the forthcoming Sallah and Christmas holidays.
The bomb factory, situated in a building at Gunduwawa village in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano, was busted in the wee hours of Monday when the son of the owner of the building who was found in one of the bunkers in the building was killed during the raid by JTF .
Disclosing this on Wednesday in Kano at a media briefing , the 3 Brigade Commander , Brigadier General, Ilyasu Abba, said the forthcoming Sallah break could have been a disaster if the large cache of weapons of destruction being manufactured in the building were not busted .
He said the combined team of JTF and men of the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) stormed the area between 2- 3 am on Monday following a tip-off and listed materials found inside the building to include 193 rounds of 5.3mm ammunition , one AK 47 magazine, 107 rounds of 7.6mm special ammunition and weapons, working tools and materials used for making Improvised Explosive Devices (EIDs ).
Others, according to Abba, include three primed cylinders of IEDs, 18 empty IEDs cylinder , 24 detonators , small bags of fertilizer , IEDs timers . cortex wires and three remote control devices .
Màintaining that no arrest was made as the terrorists fled on sighting the JTF men, Abba said his men were çareful on the use of maximum force to avoid havin civilian casualties.
He however listed other dangerous equipment recovered from the bomb factory to include five motorola hand held radios, four communicators , six alarm clocks , three cartons of 8-volt batteries, one external hard drive and one heavy duty charger/ baterry.
The state DSS Director, Bassy Etang, also confirmed the development, saying the son of the owner of the house was killed during the operation because he was found in the bunker at odd hour.
