BEVERLY HILLS, October 22, (THEWILL) – President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday effected a minor cabinet reshuffle to fill in vacant Ministerial slots occasioned by the resignation of seven Ministers who left the federal cabinet to pursue gubernatorial aspirations in their various states.
Announcing the development to journalists after Wednesday’s cabinet meeting inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Minister of State 1, Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, who now takes charge of the Ministry of Information, said the Minister of Defence, Lt. General Aliyu Gusau, will take charge of the duties of the Minister of State for Defence.
Professor Viola Onwuliri, who until Wednesday was the Minister of State 1 Foreign Affairs, will serve as the new Minister of State for Education, Minister of State, Heath, Dr. Khaliru Alhassan, will now serve as Minister of Health.
The Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga will also take charge of the functions of the Minister of State in the Ministry, while Kabiru Turaki, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, will now oversee the Ministry of Labour.
Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Dr. Steven Oru will also assume the functions of the Minister of State in the Ministry.
