BEVERLY HILLS, JULY 18, (THEWILL) – Actor Matt Damon is the star on the cover of August 2016 edition of GQ Magazine, just as the movie Jason Bourne, the fifth in the Bourne series, which is a direct sequel to The Bourne Ultimatum of 2007, is set for release across movie theatres on July 29 in the United States.
Matt Damon plays Jason Bourne, the rogue CIA assassin and spy that turns against his bosses at Langley, Virginia. This is his fourth role as the character.
Several years after his disappearance at the conclusion of The Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne unexpectedly resurfaces at a time when the world is faced with unprecedented instability. At the same time, a new program has been created to hunt him down while he is still trying to find all the answers to his past and family.
Damon strikes a suave pose in a suit on the cover of GQ released Monday, looking every bit the super spy. He reprises his role as assassin and former government secret agent Jason Bourne in Jason Bourne, the fifth film in the hit movie thriller series and the fourth starring the actor.
Several of Damon’s co-stars, including longtime friend Ben Affleck, talked to GQ about the actor…which of course led to some good-natured teasing.
“The quality that has allowed Matt to maintain the illusion that he is Mr. Nice Guy is that he found a young TV actor who was just a pretty face and made friends with him so he would always look good by comparison,” Affleck said.
“Matt is very media-savvy and manipulative in that way. He’s like a mix of [O. J. Simpson defense-team members] Bob Shapiro and Alan Dershowitz.”
Matt is also a co-producer of the movie.
