August 06, (THEWILL) – American actor, Jamie Foxx, has apologised to the Jewish community after sharing a controversial post about fake friends and making reference to Jesus.
The actor had, on Friday, shared a cryptic post on Instagram slamming fake friends and fake love. In the post, he likened the attitude of fake friends to the attitude of those who betrayed and killed Jesus.
Foxx’s post was widely shared and was interpreted and labelled as being antisemitic, with The Times of Israel stating that Foxx’s post was a reference to the Jewish deicide, a belief that Jews are collectively responsible for the killing of Jesus.
“I want to apologise to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words has caused offence and I’m sorry.
“That was never my intent. To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’, not anything more.
“I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community.
“My apologies to anyone who was offended. Nothing but love always,” he wrote.
Jamie also took down the post following his apology to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by it.
