JAMB Candidate Arrested With Gun At UTME Centre

BEVERLY HILLS, May 18, (THEWILL) – Twenty-one-year-old candidate for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, Abubakar Liman, has been arrested for being in possession of a gun, during the examination that held at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic centre.

A locally-made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition were found on Liman, who told operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, that someone gave him the gun for “safekeeping”.

NSCDC State Commandant in Kano state, Alhaji Bashir Lawal confirmed this to newsmen in Lafia on Thursday, adding that the suspect was arrested at the polytechnic centre, during a search at the entrance to the examination hall.

He added that Liman will be charged to court for illegal possession of firearms and noted that “even registered guns were not allowed at examination centres”.
