March 19, (THEWILL) – Defending champions, Italy, have been drawn in a tricky group for the 2024 Davis Cup Finals. The Italians, led by rising star Jannik Sinner, will face Belgium, Brazil and the Netherlands in Group A, with matches taking place in Bologna in September.
Last year’s runners-up Australia, find themselves in Group B alongside the Czech Republic, France and hosts Spain, with Valencia acting as the group’s host city. Germany, the United States, Slovakia and Chile comprise Group C, which will be staged in Zhuhai, China.
In one of the more intriguing groups, Great Britain have been drawn with 2022 champions Canada, Argentina and Finland in Group D, with home advantage for the Brits as Manchester hosts. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout Final 8 in Malaga in November.
The Davis Cup group stage takes place from September 10-15, shortly after the US Open concludes. All eyes will be on Italy to see if they can defend their first title since 1976, won largely thanks to the brilliant performances of Sinner.
