June 26, (THEWILL) – The Managing Director of Imo State Waste Management Agency (ISWAMA), Barr. Kelechi Emeakaroha, has expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of people that greeted the State’s monthly sanitation exercise.

Saturday’s sanitation exercise witnessed an impressive turnout, as residents of the State came out in their numbers to participate in the clean-up exercise.

At Douglas, Wethedral and Okigwe roads, as well as Njemanze and Onumonu among others, people were seen desilting drainages in front of their shops and residences, while others were busy clearing bushy areas within their environment.

There was also restriction of vehicular movement between 7am – 10am by the security agents, who blocked the Imo State University junction, Wethedral Road Roundabout, Control Post and other strategic places within the metropolis.

Speaking shortly after the environmental sanitation exercise, Emeakaroha urged the people of the State to show more seriousness towards the monthly sanitation exercise, adding that the Governor’s Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction agenda must be complemented.

“This Government is committed to the well-being of its people; an administration that is sensitive to the health of the citizens,” he stated, adding that “Imo reclaim its position as the cleanest in the country.”

Emeakaraoha commended the Governor of the State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, for the good work he is doing in the State since he assumed office and therefore, called on the people to support him.

The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe; General Manager, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), Engr. Frank Nzewodo; General Manager, Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO), Engr. Francis Chukwu; Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Governor, Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie and his Deputy, as well as other appointees, monitored the sanitation exercise.
