August 31, (THEWILL) – Ipswich Town secured their first English Premier League point of the 2024/2025 season in a 1-1 draw with Fulham at Portman Road on Saturday.
The home side took an early lead through Liam Delap, who scored with a powerful strike following good build-up play from Leif Davis. However, Fulham equalised before half-time when Adama Traore finished off a flowing team move in the 32nd minute.
Both teams pushed for a winner after the break, with Chiedozie Ogbene and Raul Jimenez coming close for their respective sides. Neither could find a decisive goal though, leaving the points shared.
The result leaves Ipswich 16th in the League table after their opening set of matches. Fulham sit just outside the top half ahead of the weekend’s remaining fixtures.
It was Ipswich’s first top-flight point since April 2002, ending their long wait to get off the mark upon their return to the top flight this season. The Tractor Boys will be encouraged by their performance against an established EPL side.
