October 21, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan got back to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 victory away at Torino in Serie A on Saturday. The victory came after Inter suffered a shock 2-2 draw against Bologna before the international break. All three of Inter’s goals came in the second half as they condemned Torino to a fourth straight league match without scoring.
Inter were seeking redemption after dropping points against Bologna last time out. However, they struggled to create clear chances in the opening 45 minutes despite having more of the ball. Torino went into the match on a three-game scoring drought in Serie A. They squandered several decent opportunities to take the lead in the first half with Yann Sommer denying them each time.
Torino were made to pay for their first-half misses after the break. Marcus Thuram smashed in the opener in the 59th minute, latching onto Denzel Dumfries’ cutback on the edge of the box. Just 9 minutes later, Lautaro Martinez doubled Inter’s advantage with a close-range header from Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner.
Calhanoglu wrapped up a comfortable win for Inter with another goal from the penalty spot in the 95th minute as they overwhelmed Torino in the second period. The victory sees Inter climb to the top of the Serie A table.
The defeat leaves Torino down in 14th without a goal in their last four league matches. Inter will look to build on this performance when they host Salzburg in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League while Torino travel to Lecce on Saturday, in the domestic League.
