August 16, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan have made a statement signing by securing the services of Austrian striker, Marko Arnautovic, from fellow Serie A side, Bologna.

The 34-year-old moved to the San Siro on an initial loan deal, with reports suggesting Inter have paid around €10 million to secure the agreement. The deal is said to include an obligation for Inter to purchase Arnautovic permanently if certain clauses are met during his loan spell. The transfer sees Arnautovic return for a second stint with Inter, having been part of Jose Mourinho’s treble-winning squad in the 2009/2010 campaign.

Arnautovic has been in strong form for Bologna over the past year, netting 15 goals across all competitions last season. Inter described Arnautovic as “a physically imposing but technically-gifted player” in their statement announcing the signing. These will make him an intriguing addition to Simone Inzaghi’s attack.

With 108 caps and 34 goals for Austria to his name, Arnautovic brings a wealth of experience to Inter’s forward line. He joins French striker, Marcus Thuram, as a new attacking acquisition for the Nerazzurri during this transfer window.

Inter will be hoping the arrival of Arnautovic can boost their Scudetto ambitions this season, as they look to dethrone defending champions Napoli when hostilities begin in Serie A this weekend. On Saturday, Inter will open their campaign away at Monza with a late 7:45pm kickoff.
