January 05, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan defeated Napoli 1-0 on Wednesday, ending Napoli’s unbeaten start to the season.
The match started with Inter coming close to scoring within the first four minutes but Federico Dimarco, was unable to convert a chance set up by Romelu Lukaku. Matteo Darmian also missed a chance later in the first half.
Despite these missed opportunities, Inter were able to capitalize in the second half when Dzeko headed in a goal from a Dimarco cross. Napoli tried to equalise late in the match, with Giacomo Raspadori, nearly scoring in the final seconds, but Inter held on for the win.
The victory is crucial for Inter as they remain in fourth place but move within eight points of Napoli at the top of the Serie A table.
As for the I Partenopei, the fairytale start to the season gets a reality check with their unbeaten run broken and the gap between them and the chasing pack cut down. Their next match is against Sampdoria, while Inter is away to Monza.
