July 18, (THEWILL) – Folarin Balogun has found himself at the centre of transfer talks, as Arsenal have placed a £50m price tag on the player, with Inter Milan reportedly engaging in discussions with his representatives.
Balogun’s recent loan stint at Ligue 1’s Reims proved to be immensely successful, with the new USMNT international netting an impressive tally of 21 goals in 37 league appearances, ranking him among the top goal scorers in the top flight of French football last season.
While the young striker declined the opportunity to sign a new contract upon his return to Arsenal, the club has taken steps to find a potential buyer by instructing Balogun’s representatives to explore interested parties. Among those interested, Inter have emerged as a suitor, commencing negotiations. Atalanta and Lille have also expressed interest, but are awaiting potential player sales before making any concrete moves.
However, negotiations with Inter have hit a roadblock due to Arsenal’s firm asking price. Sources monitored by THEWILL confirm that the Gunners are seeking £50m for the 22-year-old, while Balogun’s agents hope to negotiate the figure down to around £40m.
Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, Balogun remains focused on the pre-season preparations with Arsenal, as he himself acknowledged ahead of their US tour.
