May 09, (THEWILL) – Former Anambra State Governor and Presidential Aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, on Monday, blamed the sinking Nigerian economy on insecurity.
Peter Obi made this remark in Jalingo while meeting with delegates of the party ahead of the Primary elections.
Obi, who explained that the incessant killings and kidnappings is sliding the country into a failed state, stressed that the situation requires immediate intervention.
According to him, what Nigerians need is a leader that will reposition the country and ensure that the future is secured and guaranteed.
“The insecurity is dragging Nigeria into a collapse state, the nation’s economy is sinking on a daily basis and we need to rescue the situation and change the narrative.
“The country’s situation now needs a president that understands economy and is willing to handle insecurity to its drastic point, we need to move from sharing formula to production formula for the nation to reclaim her giant status”, Obi said.
Governor Darius Ishaku while responding, described Peter Obi as a rare gem and a man of integrity, who is capable of leading the country.
Ishaku asked Nigerians to either choose to live in a Nigeria of promise that would transform their children’s future or a Nigeria of kidnapping that has thrown the people in shambles.
Addressing delegates earlier, Dr Doyin Okupe, the campaign Director General told delegates that they were in Taraba not to campaign for Peter Obi as a person, but for a better Nigeria.
According to Doyin, the aspirant had distinguished himself during his tenure in office as Governor of Anambra state.
The DG affirmed that Peter Obi has proven by leadership qualities that he is capable of reclaiming the nation’s lost glory and building the Nigeria of everyone’s dream.
