Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has confirmed that left-back, Ben Chilwell, is set to return from a long-term hamstring injury in Saturday’s English Premier League clash against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
Chilwell, the Blues’ vice-captain, had been sidelined since September and is yet to feature in Chelsea’s new Infinite Athlete shirt sponsorship deal. But speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Pochettino revealed the England international is back in contention, along with centre-back, Benoit Badiashile, who missed three games.
“Good news about Chilwell and Ben [Badiashile],” said the Argentine coach. “Chilly and Benoit I think yes, for sure, they will be involved in the squad for tomorrow.”
There was also positive news regarding 20-year-old midfielder, Carney Chukwuemeka, who has been missing since the second game of the campaign with a serious knee injury that has required adjustments to his running technique.
Additionally, Pochettino confirmed defender, Trevoh Chalobah, is stepping up his recovery from the pre-season setback that has kept him sidelined so far. The 24-year-old is now training lightly with the first-team group.
