INEOS Joins Race To Buy Man United

February 18, (THEWILL) – INEOS, the British multinational chemical company, has confirmed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has submitted a bid to buy Manchester United.

This comes after Qatari, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jaber Al Thani, confirmed he had also made a bid to buy 100% of the club from the Glazer family. The soft deadline for offers was on Friday evening.

In a public statement, INEOS announced that they would see their role as the “long-term custodians” of Manchester United on behalf of the fans and the wider community. The company is highly competitive and ambitious, and would want to invest in Manchester United to make them the number one club in the world once again.

The Raine Group, who are in charge of managing the sale, will evaluate the proposals, some of which may not have been made public.

The Glazers are hoping to receive at least €6bn if they are to relinquish control of United. It remains to be seen which bid will be successful, but it is clear that both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jaber Al Thani are serious about acquiring the club.
