BEVERLY HILLS, November 21, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the supplementary Kogi West senatorial election between incumbent, Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Smart Adeyemi for November 30, 2019.
Also, the rerun election for Ajaokuta Federal Constituency will be conducted same day, Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, said, adding that the decision was taken at the meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.
“In addition, the court ordered the conduct of Supplementary re-run poll in Ajaokuta Federal Constituency affecting 22 Polling Units.”
“We enjoin all the political parties and stakeholders to cooperate with the commission for conclusive free and credible elections in the affected areas,” Okoye said.
INEC declared the Saturday’s senatorial re-run election for Kogi West inconclusive and called for supplementary elections in areas where elections did not take place.
THEWILL can report that candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adeyemi polled 80,118 votes while Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP polled 59,548, according to official results declared before the supplementary poll was ordered.
