Implement Anti-Open Grazing Law, Ogun Assembly Urges Abiodun

October 28, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to immediately begin implementation of the anti-open grazing law.
Barely a month ago, Governor Dapo Abiodun signed the anti-open grazing bill into law to put an end to the herders attacks on the citizens of the state and their farmlands, especially in the Yewa axis.
The speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, made the request while responding to the submission of a member representing Yewa North I State Constituency, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju.
Adeyanju submitted that it was high time the state government and necessary stakeholders prepare to curb the incessant clashes between herders and farmers that often happened during the dry season.
The lawmaker added that as the dry season approaches, the government needs to begin implementation of the law by putting machineries in motion to halt imminent attacks by herders who always engage in illegal open grazing on farmlands of people in his constituency.
In his swift response, Oluomo immediately directed the Special Adviser on Security to the State Governor, AIG Olusola Subaru (rtd) and other security operatives in the state to rise to their basic functions of securing the lives and properties of the people as well as protecting the lives of farmers and averting damages to their farmland by herders.
