BEVERLY HILLS, February 26, (THEWILL) – The Mbaise Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo State was Thursday night set ablaze by suspected hoodlums, causing policemen on duty and detainees to take to their heels.
THEWILL gathered policemen on duty fled as the hoodlums who came in several vehicles carried out the arson.
On arrival, the hoodlums who, according to sources, came with inflammable objects, doused the police formation and ignited the environment.
The development caused panic in the area, as the policemen on guard, suspects and residents ran into nearby bushes.
Investigation revealed that although no police arms were missing in the incident, some policemen and suspects sustained minor injuries.
It was gathered that all the files and documents belonging to the police were lost in the inferno.
The police spokesperson for the state command, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident.
